Come enjoy the world's most spectacular aquarium: Xel-Há, a nature lover's paradise.

Embark on an aquatic adventure. Explore creeks, lagoons, natural wells and ancient caves fed by subterranean rivers flowing to Mexico's beautiful Caribbean Sea Xel-Há Park is a living invitation to enjoy nature first hand and explore the legends of an ancient culture; the Maya.   Our goal is the creation of an organized leisure environment that promotes the appreciation and understanding of the natural world. Ecology plays a key role in sustainable natural parks.   For us, a health respect for nature is the base of all our projects.    By protecting the Parks naturally occurring habitats, working efficiently and in cooperation with natural systems, we can achieve a sustainable system.

Our mission is to respect the balance of nature and to maintain the balance between aquatic flora and fauna.   By eliminating pollution and predation we can create ‘safe’ habitats that promote growth in some cases blocking access to areas completely to encourage fish species reproduction.    Our educational programs and studies are linked to national and international studies. The mission does not end at the Park.   Regional issues include habitat destruction, pollution, deforestation and loss of traditional values and culture within Mayan communities.

Protection and production are the watchword for the Garden Program at Xel-Há.   Lowland tropical forest, dominates the park, represented by kuku or Caribbean palms, zapote, and black and white chechen trees.   Over 350 species are present. Of these plants a number flower year round.   The Nursery is well marked, making it easy for visitors to learn about the plants names, traditional and current uses, etc.   We feel this is very important to provide this learning forum.

UNDERWATER

Snuba Snorkel
Snuba is a combination of snorkeling and scuba – and it lets non-divers descend safely into the reef zone without breath-hold diving. A compressed air tank floats on the surface, the snuba diver breathes through a safe. Submerge in the amazingly blue, warm and crystalline waters of the Xel-Há inlet with your snorkel equipment and you will have an unforgettable encounter with colorful fishes and exuberant flora.
Sea Trek Aquaventura
Step into a world of fish — the biggest and most splendid in the Park. This new take on helmet diving is safe and enjoyable – and you won’t even get your hair wet. Our guides lead participants on an adventure to the best sites in the Park. For novices and experienced snorkelers alike, this multi-level experience in the marine ecosystem is an eye-opener.

ADVENTURE

Floating Bridge Train and Bicycle
Enjoy the natural world? The 80 meter floating bridge is an opportunity to get face to face with nature. A spectacular view of the Cove as it opens into the turquoise Caribbean, not to mention the enormous, and curious..... Your Xel-Há adventure continues on wheels. Grab a bike and pedal the paths, or take our ‘train’ for a trip down shady jungle paths.
Mangrove Chaac Mayan Cave
Mangroves are the only trees in the world that live in salt water. They serve as refuge and nursery for a large portion of marine and terrestrial life. Natural biological filters, mangroves provide barriers. The Mayan world was upside down. Heaven was below ground in an ‘infraworld’ of caves, guarded by fantastic beasts and gods. These ideas of an underground world was made easier to believe.
